#1 Cause of Dryer Fires: Clogged Vents
Clogged dryer vents are one of the leading causes of house fires. Our professional cleaning removes the hidden lint buildup that puts your home at risk - and makes your dryer work like new again.
It's one of the most overlooked home maintenance tasks - and one of the most important.
Your dryer's lint trap only catches about 75% of the lint produced during each cycle. The rest accumulates inside your dryer vent line over time - and that buildup is highly flammable. According to the U.S. Fire Administration, clothes dryers cause an estimated 2,900 home fires every year, and failure to clean the vent is the leading contributing factor.
Beyond fire safety, a clogged vent forces your dryer to work harder and run longer. That drives up your energy bill, shortens the life of the appliance, and can cause excessive heat in your laundry room. If your clothes are taking more than one cycle to dry, or if the top of your dryer feels unusually hot, a clogged vent is likely the cause.
Dry Step's dryer vent cleaning clears the entire vent line - from the dryer connection to the exterior exhaust cap. We use professional rotary brush equipment and high-powered air tools to remove compacted lint, debris, and any obstructions.

If you notice any of these, it's time to schedule a cleaning.
If your dryer takes two or more cycles to fully dry a load, restricted airflow from lint buildup is almost certainly the cause.
Excessive heat on top of the dryer or in your laundry room means hot, moist air isn't escaping properly through the vent.
If you smell something burning when the dryer runs, lint near the heating element could be scorching. Stop using the dryer and schedule a cleaning immediately.
Check the exterior exhaust cap. If the flap barely moves when the dryer is running, the vent line is likely blocked.
Annual cleaning is recommended for most households. Heavy-use homes may need it every 6-9 months.
If clothes come out of the dryer covered in lint, it's a sign that debris is being pushed back into the drum instead of out through the vent.

Warning signs include clothes taking multiple cycles to dry, the dryer or laundry room feeling unusually hot, a burning smell during operation, and the exterior vent flap not opening properly. If you've never had it cleaned, it almost certainly needs attention.
At least once a year for most households. Homes with larger families or heavy laundry use may benefit from cleaning every 6-9 months.
Most dryer vent cleanings take 30-60 minutes depending on the length and configuration of your vent line.
Yes - we clean from the dryer connection all the way to the exterior exhaust cap, so we'll need access to both ends of the vent line.
No. For safety and liability reasons, we do not clean dryer vents that exit through the roof. Our service covers standard wall-exit and ground-level vent configurations. If your vent exits on the roof, we recommend contacting a company that specializes in rooftop access.
Yes. According to the U.S. Fire Administration, clothes dryers cause an estimated 2,900 home fires every year, and failure to clean the vent is the leading contributing factor. Lint is highly flammable.
In most cases, yes. A clear vent allows hot, moist air to escape efficiently, which can lead to shorter dry cycles, lower energy bills, and less wear on the appliance.

Dry Step showed up right on time and were very professional! Super nice and did a very good job. Price is reasonable as well. Highly recommend!
I had my carpets done this week. A.J. did such a great job. My carpets look better than any other time I have had them cleaned. Because of their process I was also able to get wool area rugs that are on my hardwood floors cleaned. Will definitely use again.
